This post is part of the October 2018 Edition of 31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes. I hope you”ll join me in seeing where each prompt takes us.
P.S. Just so you know, I’m finding it difficult to stick to five minutes (**) and it may take me longer than the 31 days to finish all the prompts. Not easy for this rule follower!

A Whole New Me
A glance in the mirror
And what do I see?
Not who I pictured
But a whole new me!
When did those wrinkles
Appear on my face?
My girlish figure?
Gone, without a trace.
There’s no denying
My hair has gone gray
And that sag in my eyelid
Has settled in to stay.
Age spots and whiskers
An unwelcome pair.
My eyebrows are bushy and
My neck’s got skin to spare.
“Stop!” said a voice
“Look again and see
The one that I love
And created you to be!”
So I looked a little closer
But the blemishes didn’t show,
Just a child who’s forgiven
And continuing to grow.
Yes, one more glance in the mirror
And what did I see?
Not who I thought I was,
But by grace, a whole new me!
Cindy,
This brought tears to my eyes. God has blessed you with an amazing talent that blesses each of us. Keep writing!!
Beautiful, Cindy. Absolutely beautiful.
