Forget and Remember
Forget the things from your past that try to convict you. Instead,
Remember “There is no condemnation now for those who live in union with Christ Jesus.”
Romans 8:1 (GNT)
Forget those words you hear when you look in the mirror. Instead,
Remember “..we are God’s masterpiece.”
Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
Forget longing to be like someone else. Instead,
Remember “Christ is like a single body, which has many parts; it is still one body, even though it is made up of different parts. As it is, however, God put every different part in the body just as he wanted it to be. There would not be a body if it were all only one part!
1 Corinthians 12:12,18-19 (GNT)
Forget the fear that confines you. Instead,
Remember “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10 (NLT)
Forget the worries that threaten to overwhelm you. Instead,
Remember “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”
1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)
Forget thinking you’re too weak to face the circumstances you are in. Instead,
Remember “I have the strength to face all conditions by the power that Christ gives me.
Philippians 4:13 (GNT)
Forget believing you aren’t loved. Instead,
Remember “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.”
John 3:16 (GNT)
Thanks for this encouragement, Cindy! What a difference it would make if we could constantly remember the truths in those verses.
Phil 3:14 – one of my favourite verses! Thanks for the reminder
Just stopped by from FMF #34
Great reminders of what to remember and what to forget.
Love this post.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Sandra! Now if I just do it! Thank you for taking time to comment.
This is such a good way to think about what to forget, as an active, intentional thing to do. Thanks for sharing, Cindy. Kath, your FMF neighbour at #4 this week.
Kath, it always amazes me (it shouldn’t ) how God gives me inspiration and how it turns out to be just the lesson I need! Thank you for taking your time to stop in here. It means a lot to me.
This is ingenious. We are all such experts at comparison and contrast. I love the way you clearly present the human condition next to the truth of the scripture. Your beginning verse has been special to me for 50 years. It’s the verse underlined in my dad’s Bible and highlighted as his life verse.
To God be the glory! These are all challenges I face sometimes daily! Wish I’d lean on the truth of scripture rather than my crazy little mind more often. Your support means the world to me Jane! Thank you.
I think I may have quite forgotten
the things I tried to recall,
and remembered only misbegotten
times placed on my “Oh, crap!” wall
that may have been better-placed
right down Orwell’s Mem’ry Hole
with which my life should have been graced
for the comfort of soul.
But there, perhaps, would be a cost
to such cool forgettery,
something vital spindled, lost,
the foolish camaraderie
that deserves to be held dear:
“Hey, watch THIS, and hold my beer!”
Love those first two lines Andrew! Pretty much true for me. Thank you for sharing your poetic gift with me once again!
what a fantastic way of setting this out. Showing us the difference between Our Thinking and God’s. So glad I stopped in from FMF25
Thank you Annette! Giving glory to the Holy Spirit and his leading. These are all things I needed reminded of. I appreciate you taking time to comment.
What wonderful reflections between forget & remember.

Thanks Barb! All things I need to remember! I am grateful for you stopping in!
So clear and compelling to be reminded that it is good to forget and remember who we are in Christ and what the Bible says about our circumstances. Thanks for sharing, blessings, Leisa
If we (and I mean me) could live as who we are in Christ, what a life it would be! Thank you so much for taking your time to comment. I appreciate it!
